Throughout February they headed east through France, making their way to the battlefields close to the Somme. The Battalion’s war diary shows them moving through many areas.
On the 2nd February 1916 they took the train from Le Havre to Blendecques, arriving the following morning. From Blendecques the men marched to Wollan Cappel, and 6 days later marched on to Molinghem where they rested until 19th February. From Molinghem the Battalion proceeded to Hamet Billet where they rested for the night, before marching to Les Choquax where they were held in reserve for the 38th division until 29th February 1916. February ended with the men marching to Robecq where they rested until 7th March 1916.
At some point in February/March they also visited Locon where the pictures below were taken.
