This is the story of Captain Charles Johnson. Born in 1880 in Altrincham near Manchester, Charles spent most of his life in the Cheshire Regiment. He was a dedicated soldier and officer.
Orphaned at just 7, Charles joined the army at 14 and was stationed in India at 15. Charles moved through the ranks of the Regiment before being badly wounded in July 1916. This ended his life in the army.
